Two-For-Tuesday
It's one of the oldest tropes in radio.
And now it is on Vinyl Voyage.
Two for Tuesday is now here. Every Tuesday we will be playing songs in pairs--two songs by the same artist all day Tuesday. Enjoy!

Jesus Christ Superstar
I was first introduced to Jesus Christ Superstar in high school by my friend Alane, who used to watch the movie every Easter with her family. I was hooked.
In honor of that tradition, Vinyl Voyage Radio will again be playing the original 1970 London concept album of Jesus Christ Superstar this Easter Sunday. If you are only familiar with the Ted Neeley version from the 1973 film, you will find this one to be very different.
To JCSS aficionados, this album is known simply as "the Brown Album." Released in 1970, it features Ian Gillan in the title role. Plus, Murray Head as Judas and Yvonne Elliman as Mary Magdalene.
This album pre-dates any stage performance of the production as a musical. It began its life as a "rock opera" concept album and was only performed a couple of times as a stage concert before opening on Broadway in October, 1971.
This production is unique in the story of Jesus in that it focuses strictly on the political side of the story, while glossing over the religious aspects. Considering when it came out, that should not be too surprising.
Andrew Lloyd Webber won a "Most Promising Composer" Award at the Tonys in 1971.
Join us for a listen. Jesus Christ Superstar will start at 12 pm central time on Sunday, April 16, 2017.

"Country Road," This Month on AiV
As Donny and Marie sang, "I'm a little bit country...."
On this episode of Adventures in Vinyl, we are going back to 1975 for the K-Tel compilation, Country Road. We don't play much country here on Vinyl Voyage Radio, but when I found a great. clean copy of this album at Goodwill, I needed to have it. Honestly, I don't know to much about country music but here it is, a country album now on Adventures in Vinyl.
This album features all sorts of country music from a wide range of country artists--from classic Honky-Tonk to crossover hits. Some of these you'll probably know. Others, not so much.
If country music is not your thing, give this album a try. You might be pleasantly surprised.
I sure was.
This new episode of Adventures in Vinyl can be heard throughout the month of April
Saturday 12:30 pm (central)
Sunday 4 pm (central)
Wednesday 2 am (Central)
Or, listen to it on demand via Mixcloud
