It’s the first time the four of us have been together in nearly a decade. Over gin and tonics, we laughed, swapped stories, and revisited the soundtrack of our family life—Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, the Oak Ridge Boys, Vikki Carr, and more. Along the way we talked about concerts, campers, curfews, and even tornadoes on the plains. The episode closes with Mom’s simple but powerful reflection: “Dave, we did something right.” Join us for an hour of music, memories, and family. Going back to 1975 for this one.  K-Tel's Music Express was one of the first albums that I ever got. It features Captain and Tennille, Elton John, 10cc, Jigsaw and Barry Manilow.  Plus many, many more. Here is a detailed look at K-Tel's Music Express , including chart data for all of the songs.  This album features 20 songs....most of which were heavily edited. For example, Phoebe Snow's "Poetry man" is a mere 1 minute, 58 seconds. But that's K-Tel for you. On this month's edition of Adventures in Vinyl , we are taking a time trip back to 1982 for K-Tel's .  This album featured Rick Springfield, Lindsey Buckingham, ABBA, George Benson, Air Supply...and many, many more. Perhaps not one of K-Tel's best, After Hours still has plenty going for it.  Over half of the songs appeared on the Billboard Year End Chart for 1982.  And, like all their albums in the 1980s, K-Tel went with quality over quantity.  This album has only 15 songs and very little editing.  These are mostly full versions, unlike those found on their compilations in the 70s when they tried to fit as many songs as possible on an LP.
