The Beatles -- on the Next Song of the Week

Have you seen the new Beatles documentary, Get Back? Thats' how I spent the last weekend: taking a trip back to a month in 1969.  I remember seeing Let it Be when I was in high school; we rented it on VHS.

That movie was sad and depressing.

This one is a joy to watch.

My friend, and singer-songwriter Tom Flannery summarizes this film so well. Read his take here.

For the Song of the Week, we are putting this album on the platter for a track that was recorded on the roof of Apple Studios. Which one? Take a listen at 11am/11pm, Eastern.

Song of the Week - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"

Listen to the Song of the Week every Wednesday at 10am and 10pm, Central. Then, it repeats periodically throughout the week.

This song was ripped from a 1978 re-issue of the "White Album" on bright, white vinyl. Unfortunately, the video I posted to Youtube was "blocked in all countries." Damn.  Shoulda known.

Song of the Week: A Day in the Life from Sgt. Pepper 50th Aniversary Edition

"A Day in the Life" is one of the the greatest songs ever written. It brilliantly blends together two different Lennon and McCartney tunes and ends Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.  I just recently purchased the 50th Anniversary Edition on vinyl.  It was remixed from the original tapes by George Martin's son, Giles.

This, perhaps, is the way Sgt. Pepper's was meant to be heard.

You can hear this track on Vinyl Voyage Radio on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 10--am and pm, central time. Or, if you can't wait, listen to it below as it plays on the turntable.

Grab some headphones. It'll be worth it.
